Labour Market Research Websites
These links will take you offsite to various career and occupation research and labour market information websites. Use these links to find occupational profiles, career centres and government sites aimed at helping you find work.
Canadian Careers – 3 sections direct you to information on market trends, marketing yourself, and finding a job. They provide insight on resume building and interviewing, networking, salary guides, job boards and more. Very to the point. Be careful: many of the links to jobboards are incorrect.
Ontario Skills Passport – This nifty site provides information on work habits and job descriptions for many occupations, plus ideas for creating a workplan, ways to rate your skill level in many essential areas such as reading and computers, plus research tools and a job assessment database to help you find a job that suit your skills.
Sector Councils – includes data on sector skills shortages. Their Ignition program is designed to provide background on specific occupations. It is a bit idiosyncratic since not all sectors are included, but you should look at the tourism sector. Also follow the links for the different sector councils.
