Required a cook to assist the full-time cook, up to 44 hours a week
Arrell Youth Centre is a Secure Custody Young Offender Program providing a wide range of innovative programs and services to youth. We require a Cook to assist the Full-time cook, up to 44 hours a week.
Qualifications: - Formal training as a Chef or sufficient experience with volume cooking - preferably in institutional setting or large restaurant.
- Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas.
- Ability to prepare menu based on knowledge of dietry standards.
- Ability to relate and supervise youths who are assigned to work and learn food services skills.
- Successful applicants will be asked to provide a satisfactory Criminal Reference and Health Assessment.
Duties:
- Prepare lunches, dinners, decide on food volume, etc.
- Prepare special diets for those under medical care.
- prepare meals for youth and staff who are on outings, youth going out of school, serving food, ensuring correct portions, etc.
- Checking food stocks, calculate requirements, occassionally doing the shopping and picking up supplies at grocery stores.
- Ensure kitchen/dining area is properly maintained, dishes, floors, oven, tables, etc.
- Ensure sharp utensils are accounted for and kept under lock and key when not in use.
- Other duties as required.
Start date:ASAP
Payrate: $12.38
Hours:3:00 pm - 10 or 11 pm (close) Wed to Sat plus occasional extra when we have events
