The Inter-campus cook-off begins to find who will represent the college at Skills Ontario

Monday Morning, 5am: the alarm of the 8 chefs competing in today's inter-campus competition sound, but the sounds do not wake any of the 8 chefs, because they have been awake most of the night making and remaking the air signature dishes in hope the Judges will crown them worthy of representing Liaison College at Skills Ontario May, 5th in Waterloo.

8:00am - everyone arrives at Kitchen Stadium, aka Whitby Campus and gets right to setting up their station, coffee is flowing, chefs try to make small talk all the while not knowing their will be winners and their will be losers.

Introductions and rules are formalized, Judges are introduced...butterflies are everywhere, especially for the lone Male Chef in a sea of Females! This dynamic just adds to the tension.

The timing is announced and the first team is off and gathering their ingredients and getting to work on their creations. All the chefs watch as the 2nd and then the 3rd and then the 4th team embark on their Culinary Battle. Things progress smoothly in the beginning as time is never an issue...until there is not enough left!

Half way through the competition a new twist as the television cameras arrive and all of the sudden the world...at least the rogers Cable world, will be watching. This new dimension adds more tension and the air becomes a little tighter.
To add to the atmosphere, official culinary Crier (chef Mick Elliott) wails One Hour to GO! Now all that extra time has disappeared and the race is on, what about my mousse setting, I forgot my....where is my.... If anything is going to go wrong , it will go wrong in the next hour!
The chefs are now noticing what else is being created...envy, fear, satisfaction and pride all race through each and every competitor.

Finally as the time bell is called, the chefs breath a sigh of relief, they can do no more. Their fate is in the Judges hands ...behind closed doors. The waiting...and waiting...and waiting until finally the judges emerge form the secretive judging room, they confer with the Culinary Crier and then go back into their judgment room. The room becomes eclectic and then finally the group is assembled and after the usual formalities, that always take too long especially from a competitor's point of view, Felix announces the winners.

In 3rd place from the Oakville Campus "Lara Gillespie". In second Place from the Hamilton Campus Lindsay Vanderkamp and the gold medal winner for the First Inter Campus Skills From The Downtown Campus Sara Tsai.

Excitement, disappointment and relief all flood the room and the first leg of a long and exciting journey is complete. Stay tuned for the exciting results of the next legs in the recipe for creating great Chefs, a lifelong passion for all the Liaison colleges.
